Bartholomew family papers and town records, 1721-1900.

Primarily land and financial records related to several generations of the Bartholomew family of Bristol, Connecticut, who were store keepers, tavern proprietors and merchants. The bulk of the Bartholomew material belonged to Lemma, Lemuel and George Wells Bartholomew. Among Lemma's papers are legal documents concerning George Stillman and Charles Morgan, who were involved with trade in the West Indies. Also includes papers of the Stiles and French families, town records of Bristol, Southbury and Woodbury, Connecticut, assorted documents, and of most interest, records of the colonial treasury's reimbursement to John Lord, manager of the Hartford workhouse and payment to individuals for keeping indigent women and children. In the Bristol town records is a bill to Abel Lewis for his services relating to the 1809 Independence Ball.
